Applications Engineer
One full-time opening
Fairmont, WV
Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications; assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, modeling, simulation, debugging, and documentation of programs. Applications generally deal with utility programs, job control language, macros, subroutines, and other control modules. Works on most phases of software systems programming applications, and may require instruction and guidance in other phases.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study that provides substantial knowledge useful in managing large, complex AIS projects; is closely related to the work to be automated; and/or is in computer science, information system, physical science, engineering, or mathematics-intensive discipline. An applicable training certificate from an accredited training institution can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of increasingly complex, progressive experience in performing systems analysis, development, and implementation of business, mathematical, or scientific settings using a variety of information technology resources. Experience with current technologies and, where required for the task, emerging technologies. Five years of related experience, including military training, can be substituted for education. Software programming experience with Java, SQL Relational databases (IBM Informix experience a Plus), and experience designing and developing prototypes desired.

Communications Network Analyst
Full time position
NASA Glenn Research Center
Cleveland, Ohio
This position will model existing and future space communications systems coupling a variety of software tools. The successful candidate should have an understanding of networking protocols, network management practices, and related topics like security, communications systems basics, software, etc. The candidate should be comfortable with network simulation activities including writing software models and using software like QualNet to perform analysis and be able to carry out communication architecture development, modeling, and study activities to support project activities in NASA-wide team settings. The candidate may also be required to produce, modify, and update architecture diagrams with various tools and prepare integrated graphics and text presentation packages.
Required skills:
* Must have technical knowledge or a strong interest in the areas of space networking, communications, and systems engineering. Must have ability to gather and analyze data from technical documents, databases and other sources.
* Network simulation or emulation experience and/or network configuration and management experience.
* Basic to intermediate skills required to prepare, integrate, and deliver engineering and architecture schematics, graphics, power point charts, descriptions, designs, product and process flows, and review packages. Macintosh OmniGraffle (preferred) and/or Microsoft Visio software experience.
* C, C++, Java, or C# programming experience.
* Must be capable of summarizing and developing data gathered and low-level schematics into technical descriptions and draft level flow diagrams as initial input into professional product packages for final delivery to customers with minimal supervision.
* Should possess the ability to digest technical material and transform the information into architecture models
Desired skills:
* Previous experience in creating and integrating system engineering documents and contents. STK, OPNET, or QualNet experience a plus.
* Knowledge of communication system and/or network architecture processes and methods and as well architecture frameworks (e.g. DoDAF).
* Technical writing experience is a plus.
Must be able to communicate and work well with various customers and teams members.
Education:
A bachelors or masters degree in a directly related field.
A combination of education, training, or certification that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted for the degree.

Research Interviewer
Multiple part-time positions
Silver Spring, MD
DB Consulting Group, Inc. has openings for Research Interviewers. DB (an experienced business consulting firm serving Federal and private sector clients) is located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland within one block of Silver Spring Metro.
Research interviewers are responsible for telephone interviewing, recording responses, editing data, and tracing subjects via Internet. Ideal candidates work independently and with team to collect, organize, and input data from questionnaires.
Must be Bilingual in Spanish, Farsi or Arabic, Russian, Hmong, Serbo-Croatian. Customer service or telephone interviewing experience preferred, not required. This is NOT a sales job. Must have good people/listening skills. Excellent opportunity for students, retirees, or persons with previous experience in refugee/international affairs.
Base pay is $10/hour + bonuses. Flexible schedules but must work a minimum of 4 hours per shift/3 days per week. Interviewing hours are M-F 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Sat 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Position is PT and temporary, until 12.18.09. Successful applicants will begin immediately.

System Administrator

This position will Provide support and daily administration to multiple NASA Glenn systems. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining and monitoring system security plans and adhering to NASA Glenn Security policies.
Required skills:
Qualified candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in Windows 2003 System Administration and experience with IBM WebSphere Administration is required.
Candidate must have good communication skills. Looking for a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Desired skills:
Knowledge of VMware ESX is preferred but not required.
A bachelors or masters degree in a directly related field.
A combination of education, training, or certification that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted for the degree.
