Hundreds to Attend DB’s Fourth Annual Health and Wellness Fair
DB Cares’ Fourth Annual Health and Wellness Fair welcomes hundreds of community residents who will take advantage of free health screenings, medical testing, and health information resources. The event is scheduled for July 30, 2010 in Downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.
DB Consulting Group, Inc. (DB) CEO Gerald Boyd, Jr. and President Dr. Gerald Boyd, Sr. will join County Executive Isiah Leggett and Assistant Surgeon General and Chief Nurse Kerry Nesseler in greeting participants. The fair is a public health initiative that provides community residents with resources and services needed to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“We extend our sincere thanks to all DB employee volunteers; the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce, which has graciously assisted us this year to expand the event; along with the many vendors who support this important community health endeavor,” said DB’s CEO Gerald Boyd Jr.
This annual event helps increase community health awareness of HIV, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other health risks to foster better healthcare management and prevention. The fair also promotes healthy living, including smoking cessation, exercise, healthy eating, and regular medical check-ups. Health professionals and organizations will provide additional resources, including medical, dental, vision and eye screenings and bone density testing. Priority Partners of John Hopkins offers insurance for the uninsured and has supported this fair all four years. Priority Partners is one of many vendors that contribute to the fair’s invaluable impact on the Silver Spring community.
Organized by Barbara Parker-Triplett, the DB Cares program is committed to helping improve the lives of area residents. Other DB Cares activities include semi-annual blood drives for the tenants in the Silver Spring Metro Centre complex; an annual holiday party for patients and staff in the pediatric oncology unit at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center; and regular volunteer efforts for Food and Friends, So Others May Eat (S.O.M.E), DC Central Kitchen, Hearts and Hammers, American Heart Association’s Go Red Day, and other activities.
