Communications Strategy and Planning
DB works side by side with clients to develop a clear framework for building an effective communication plan that offers practical information, techniques, tools, tips and exercises that can be applied to explain and deliver a complete and coherent message. We first look at organizational objectives over the long term to define an effective strategy. We then develop a communications plan that outlines the approach and tactics for every phase of a project. DB’s expertise includes offering guidance on how to identify likely obstacles and how the psychology behind the story – and the language used – help paint a vivid picture.

Message and Product Evaluation
Prior to writing the first word or designing the first page of a publication, DB evaluates the worth of a communication product. This phase includes determining the target audience, as well as the needs, perceptions, and language of that target audience and the distribution outlets used by members of the target audience.

Product Development
DB’s writers craft compelling, well-organized, and audience-appropriate copy for a variety of communication products, including brochures, fliers, fact sheets, direct-mail pieces, conference materials, technical assistance manuals, scientific/briefing papers, exhibits, e-mail blasts, and websites. DB’s graphic designers then ensure that graphical elements enhance text and conform to each client’s specific style.

Quality Assurance
DB’s quality assurance process includes multiple editorial reviews to ensure content is grammatically correct, complies with each client’s style guide, and is free of errors.

Public Affairs and Message Management
DB provides guidance on building relationships with the media and general public. We develop programs, coordinate activities and events, and provide advisory services and consultation for clients’ public affairs and communications services offices. DB has established relationships and credibility with both traditional and new media.

DB also understands all facets of message management. Because preparation is the key to maneuvering the media landscape, DB helps client staff speak in one voice and develops talking points and media contacts. Our services also extend to providing training and support for client briefings and press conferences.

Publication Warehousing and Fulfillment
Many clients need storage for the thousands of publications they print and distribute. However, finding the appropriate facilities, maintaining an accurate inventory, and hiring staff to fulfill orders is a difficult task. DB provides storage facilities with the appropriate climate controls and maintains an automated inventory tracking system that ensures publications are reprinted or updated before the supply runs low. Additionally, we are able to efficiently process requests for publications via mail, e-mail, websites, and telephone and send orders within a very short timeframe.

  • 2009 Gold MarCom Award for, “Your Life, Your Future: An Introduction to Wraparound.” The pamphlet was produced for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within its Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) Child, Adolescent, and Family Branch.
  • 2009 Silver Communicator Award for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) Neighborhood Networks Initiative’s exhibit.
  • 2009 Silver Communicator Award for the National Fair Housing Training Academy’s (NFHTA’s) exhibit.
  • 2009 Gold Hermes Award for “Do Something Good.” The brochure was produced for HUD’s Neighborhood Networks Initiative.
  • 2009 Gold Hermes Award for “Clearing the Air.” The handbook was created for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health’s (NIH’s) National Cancer Institute (NCI).
