DB’s Annual Health and Wellness Fair Sees Record Attendance

A record number of community members attended the DB Cares 4th Annual Health and Wellness Fair on July 30, 2010 in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. During the event, which is conducted in cooperation with the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce, guest speakers U.S. Assistant Surgeon General Rear Admiral Kerry Paige Nessler and Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett addressed participants. Rear Admiral Nessler shared with the audience that DB Consulting Group was right on time with President Obama’s vision on health care reform addressing childhood safety, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, dental health, mental health, kidney disease, fitness, and healthy living.

The public health initiative brought together local health providers and professionals who distributed resources and conducted on-site health screenings. The event increased awareness of a variety of health issues, including HIV, diabetes, and high blood pressure. It also promoted better health management and prevention by offering information and resources related to smoking cessation, exercise, healthy eating, and regular medical checkups. Long-time partner Priority Partners of John Hopkins was also on site to offer insurance for the uninsured.

DB Cares is DB Consulting Group’s community-giving program committed to helping improve the lives of area residents. Other DB Cares activities include blood drives, holiday parties for patients and staff at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, and volunteering at various local charities and organizations.
